Buying the Perfect Travel Stroller

Everyone has something they are into, for some it is fashion, others like cars, I am into strollers. I don’t know why and it’s silly really but I have a real intrest in strollers. We bought a Peg Perego Skate a year ago. So far I really like it, it’s had a few issues that have arisen over the past year but nothing that I could really complain about, and anytime I’ve had any sort of issue with it, Peg Perego’s customer service has been amazing. The only downside to the Skate, is it is huge. Because it is so big it will be next to impossible to travel overseas with.

Even if I wanted to travel with the Skate, I wasn’t able to find a gate check bag for it. Furthermore, we are renting a car while we are overseas, which will most likely be  some sort of compact hatch back. The Skate is heavy too. In all, it was not made as a travel stroller. So with our trip a mere 90 days away (who’s counting?) I came to the realization that we were going to need a different stroller, something small and lightweight. I then thought of the dreaded umbrella stroller with some poor child all slumped over in it. No way was I going to agree to that!

So the research began online, and in stores. I soon learned the Maclaren seems to be the standard for luxury travel strollers. I stopped countless people and asked them how they liked their Maclaren. Everyone I asked said they absolutely loved them. I was shocked, no one had a bad thing to say about their Maclaren. All of this being said, I wondered if had enough features to be used for an extended period of time? William is so used to the plush comfort of the Skate, would he be comfortable in something so simple?

This set me to thinking, did Peg Perego have a travel stoller? They do, actually they have a couple. The one we liked the best was the Peg Perego Si. It’s a light(er) weight travel stroller. It had most of the features that we liked on the skate and it looked like a pretty comfortable ride. The only problem was the price. It’s a little pricey, considering what we spent on the Skate, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend that much more on another stroller. We went and tested out the Si in the store and really liked it, but it is on the heavier side of lightweight strollers.

The last thing I had to consider was, how would I feel if it got beat up in travel? Whatever I buy is inevitably going to be battered during the flight, so do I want to spend that much money on something that would get beat up? With both strollers I would also have to buy the gate check bag separately. Both strollers offer just about the same features, I just wondered what would work best for now and for the long run. I am really confused. It may not sound like such a big decision but I know my husband will not let me buy another stoller after this one, so whatever I buy will have to be it. So will it be the Peg Perego Si or the Maclaren Triumph? I don’t know!

A Soft Random Mommy Moment

Now that William is toddling around the furniture noting is safe from his reach. He found a basket of clean laundry and had to climb in the basket. When I asked him what he was doing he, looked at me and rubbed his face all over the laundry. Silly boy!

As William is approaching his first birthday, I am very aware of the fact that the days of him using a bottle are quickly coming to an end. I would ideally like to have him off the bottle by his first birthday in March. Everyone I asked told me the brand they were using was the [...]

This year it seemed like Christmas was a three day long celebration, which was wonderful. Something about having a baby this year made all of the family want to spend the holiday with us. We made the rounds visiting family and friends, and spreading holiday cheer. I spent the holiday with a terrible cold but [...]
